Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties

Stanley John Mrozinski Jr.

MONTREAL, Wis. - Stanley John Mrozinski Jr., 76, of Montreal, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Stanley was born on May 22, 1948, in Ironwood, Michigan, to Stanley Mrozinski Sr. and Margaret (Valetti) Mrozinski. He attended grade school in Montreal and graduated from J.E. Murphy High School in Hurley in 1966.

Stanley entered the U.S. Navy and proudly served aboard the USS Galveston until his honorable discharge in 1970. He then attended Gogebic Community College in Ironwood and graduated with an associate degree in technology. Stanley continued to serve his country in the U.S. Army Reserves and was a longtime member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Gogebic-Iron Range Chapter 529.

Stan "the man," as he was referred to by friends, was a jack-of-all-trades. He could fix anything and was willing to help anyone who needed it. Stanley was an avid fisherman and hunter and really enjoyed taking his grandchildren to do these things. He absolutely loved to volunteer his time with any fishing events at Weber Lake, which was his favorite place to go. Stanley spent many hours riding his bike as well, usually with his best friends, Nancy and Dave Schaaf. He was always so positive, and you could always find him because his unique laugh could be heard from a distance. His laugh will never be forgotten.

Stanley is survived by four children, Melissa (Wayne) Allen, Sheila (Mike) Rubatt, Tina Romosz and Michael Mrozinski; three sisters, Jeanette (Art) Schneider, Frannie Mrozinski and Mary Paavola; nine cherished grandchildren, Ryan (Faith), Alyssa (Josh), Wayne III (Hanna), Amber (Trevor), Taylor, Gavyn, Lainey, Shayne and Piper; six dear great-grandchildren, Ella, Hazel, Ben, Olivia, Wayne IV and Eloise; and numerous nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has taken place.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 404 Iron St., in Hurley, with the Rev. Hrudaya Raju Sunkara, celebrant.

Rite of Committal and interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley, where full military rites will be accorded by the combined Hurley American Legion Post 58, Iron County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1580, and Vietnam Veterans of America, Gogebic-Iron Range Chapter 529 Honor Guard, assisted by the U.S. Navy Funeral Honors Team.

A celebration of Stanley's life will be held at the Hurley Memorial Building immediately following the military honors.

Stanley was one of the kindest people you could ever meet.
