IRONWOOD, Mich. – Jamie Lynn Gerbig, 40, of Ironwood, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, in Rochester, Minnesota, after a brief illness. Her loving family was at her side.
Jamie was born on Dec. 8, 1983, in Marquette, the daughter of Larry and Sherry (Halberg) Gerbig. The family was complete when she joined her two brothers, Larry Jr. and Jason. Jamie graduated from Wakefield High School in 2002 and Gogebic Community College in 2005, with an associate degree in business.
She was employed at Kmart, Goodwill, HOPE Animal Shelter and as an assistant manager at Walmart. Jamie just loved working with animals. She spent time at Theresa Anderson's farm with the horses, where her daughter, Luci, took lessons.
Jamie is survived by two daughters, Luciana Lynn Gerbig and Avalyn Rose Benyo, both of Ironwood; her parents, Larry and Sherry, Ironwood; two brothers, Larry (Jean) Gerbig Jr., Woodville, Wisconsin, and Jason (Louise) Gerbig, Somerset, Wisconsin; three nieces, Callie Gerbig, Addilyn Gerbig and Sadie Udd; two nephews, Benson Gerbig and Tommy Udd; a special friend, Richie Benyo; numerous aunts and uncles; and many cousins. Her dog, Chika, and her cat, Blizzard, were the loves of her life. Jamie was kind to everyone and had many friends. She will be dearly missed by all.
Jamie enjoyed fishing and riding on a side-by-side with her brothers. One of her favorite places was Lake Superior, where she enjoyed spending time with her family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 2 p.m., preceded by visitation at 1 p.m., at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, E. 8223 Sanders Road, in Bessemer, with the Rev. Timothy J. Steckling officiating.
A luncheon will be served at the church fellowship hall following the service.
