Leroy A. Ojaniemi

GWINN, Mich. - Leroy A. Ojaniemi, 73, of Gwinn, Michigan, died Saturday morning, Aug. 31, 2024, at his home, under the care of Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice.

He was born June 22, 1951, in Ewen, a son of the late Larry and Gertrude (Pokela) Ojaniemi, Sr. He was raised in Ewen and worked as a farm hand and old-fashioned mechanic.

Leroy will be remembered by his family for his sense of humor and as someone who always would be there for his family and willing to help others.

He is survived by his siblings, Carole Dunlap of Newberry, Christine Ojaniemi of Duluth, Minnesota, Colleen (Lloyd) Stinkley of Duluth, and Leon Ojaniemi of Ewen; sister-in-law, Cynthia Ojaniemi of Harvey; brother-in-law, Daniel Kemp of Westland; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ludvig, Larry Jr. and Leslie Ojaniemi; and sisters, Corann, Cynthia, Ceil and Char.

Honoring his wishes, no services will be held. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
