Soltis named Offensive Player of the Year in conference

Hurley — Hurley’s Devin Soltis earned Offensive Player of the Year honors in the Northwoods East Conference in voting by coaches.

Soltis led the Northstars with 1,379 yards on 172 carries and 18 touchdowns. He also caught 11 passes for 176 yards and three scores. He even threw for 298 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions.

Soltis also made the all-conference First Team on both offense and defense.

Hurley lineman Gavin Moore also was named to the First Team on both sides of the ball. He finished with 43 tackles (28 solo). The team rushed for 2,010 yards and he was their best offensive lineman.

Quarterback Jack Rowe, wide receiver Wyatt Hall and linebacker Brodie Erickson were all named to the Second Team.

Rowe threw for 646 yards with 10 touchdowns and three interceptions as passing became a big part of the Northstars’ offense this year. Hall caught 29 passes for 238 yards and a score. Erickson finished with 59 tackles (39 solo, nine for a loss), two sacks and a fumble recovery.
