Schools announce holiday concerts

GOGEBIC RANGE — Area schools are preparing for the holiday season, announcing their respective holiday and Christmas concerts. Below is a list of the upcoming concerts, dates and locations.

Gogebic County

Ironwood

Ironwood will offer five separate concerts this season, dividing them by class and by type of concert.

The first concert, featuring the middle school band and choir, will be held this Sunday at the Historic Ironwood Theatre from 2 to 4 p.m.

The sixth grade concert will be on Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. in the elementary gymnasium of the Luther L. Wright K-12 School.

The fifth grade concert will be on Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. in the elementary gymnasium.

The high school band will perform at the Historic Ironwood Theatre on Dec. 8 at 2 p.m.

And, finally, to wrap up Ironwood’s holiday concert season, Accent! will perform on Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. at HIT.

Bessemer

The Bessemer Area Schools District, which includes the A.D. Johnston Junior and Senior High School and the Washington Elementary School, will present all of its concerts in the junior and senior high school gym.

On Dec. 4, the middle and high school band will perform at 4:30 p.m.

The following day, on Dec. 5, the K-4 students will present their concert at 1:15 p.m.

The middle and high school choirs will perform on Dec. 11 at 4:30 p.m.

Wakefield-Marenisco

Wakefield-Marensico School will offer its junior high/high school band concert on Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. in the school gymnasium.

The following day, on Dec. 18, the elementary concerts will be held in the afternoon, with grades 4-6 performing at 12:30 p.m. and grades K-3 performing at 1:45 p.m. Those concerts also will be in the gym.

Iron County

Hurley

All concerts for the Hurley K-12 School will be offered in the school auditorium.

The high school band will provide the first concert on Dec. 4 at 6 p.m.

The high school choir will offer its concert on Dec. 11 at 6 p.m.

The final holiday concert in Hurley will be the elementary school holiday concert, held on Dec. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Mercer

Mercer K-12 School will offer its holiday concert on Dec. 18 at 6 p.m. in the school gymnasium.

Ontonagon County

Ontonagon

The Ontonagon Area Schools will hold an elementary (K-5) concert on Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. in the school gymnasium.

Ewen-Trout Creek

As of press time, the Ewen-Trout Creek Consolidated School had not announced any concert date.
