Helen Mae Anonich

MONTREAL, Wis. — Helen Mae Anonich, 100, of Montreal, passed away at Westgate Nursing, Rehabilitation and Assisted Living Community in Ironwood, Michigan, on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024.

Helen Mae was born on April 27, 1924, to Matt and Mary (Smee) Anonich. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Hurley in 1941. Helen Mae continued her education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and had a long career at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., as a secretary for the four-star generals. She returned to Montreal in 1978 to care for her mother.

Helen Mae enjoyed learning to drive, cross country skiing, bridge and golf.

She was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings.

Rite of Committal and interment will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hurley.
