HURLEY, Wis. — Janice Gerry, 74, of South Carey, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, at the Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hurley.
Janice was born on Feb. 21, 1950, in Ironwood, Michigan, to John and Kathryn (Pedretti) Gerry. She attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from J.E. Murphy High School with the class of 1968. She then attended St. Joseph School of Nursing in Marshfield, graduating in 1971. She worked as a registered nurse (RN) in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield until her retirement in 2008. Janice then moved back to Hurley and was a caretaker for her parents for 12 years.
Janice is survived by her sister, Mary Beth Merritt of Ironwood; brothers, John (Paula) Gerry of Milwaukee, Jim (Debbie) Gerry of Kimball, and Dan (Paula) Gerry of South Carey. Janice was further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Paula Rouse; and grandmothers, Mary Pedretti and Freda Gerry.
Per Janice’s request, a graveside service for her immediate family will be held in the summer of 2025 at Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood.
