IRON BELT, Wis. - Dolores B. Mattson, 97, of Iron Belt, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024, at the Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hurley.
Dolores was born the daughter of Edward and Edith (James) Baross on July 6, 1927. She was united in marriage with Eino Mattson; they had seven children together. Besides raising her family, Dolores did housekeeping for local ski resorts and cabins in the Manitowish Waters area.
Dolores is survived by her son, Robert (Donna) Mattson of Ironwood; two daughters, JoAnn Walta of Nekoosa and Brenda (Chuck) Maki of Wisconsin Rapids; 22 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Alex Antonio, her husband, Eino; sons, Donald Mattson, William Mattson, and an infant son; daughters, Bonnie Misaroco, Darlene Kokley, and infant daughter, Paulette; brothers, Donald Baross and Virgil Baross; sister, Dorothy Mattson, step-brother, Red D'Antonio, and other relatives and friends.
Visitation for Dolores will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home in Ironwood. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mike Hill officiating. Burial will take place at the Iron Belt Cemetery.
