DULUTH, Minn. - Mary K. Osterholm, 76, of Ironwood, Michigan, went to her Heavenly home on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth.
Mary was born on Nov. 12, 1948, to John and Dora (Mattrella) Kavinsky in Ironwood. She graduated from St. Ambrose Catholic School in 1959 with honors, then went to UW-Superior and - later in her life - Gogebic Community College. Mary worked for many years as a proofreader for BlackDot in Freeport, Illinois, and then taught preschool at Our Lady of Peace.
Mary was a devout member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood. She enjoyed doing all kinds of crafting. She also was an avid reader and loved to watch the Green Bay Packers.
Mary will be missed by her son, Ryan Osterholm; daughter, Maia (Chuckles) Gotta; brother, Tom Kavinsky; six grandchildren, Tessa (Kory) Delich, Taylor (Cody) Mukavitz, Alexis Osterholm, Charlie Gotta, Laney Osterholm and Nadia Osterholm; great-grandchildren, Katiya and Sutton Ofstad, Croix, Griffen and Grier Mukavitz; and nephew, T.J. Padjen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John and Jimmy Kavinsky; sister, Dorothy Padjen, and family member, Denise Osterholm.
Visitation for Mary will be held on Saturday, Jan. 18, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Father Brian Gerber officiating.
Memorials may be directed to Our Lady of Peace in Mary's name.
