Edward William Avedisian

TROUT CREEK, Mich. - Edward William Avedisian, of Trout Creek, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025.

Ed was born Aug. 19, 1942, in Paynesville to Avedis and Ann (Ranta) Avedisian. He grew up in Redford Township and graduated from Thurston High School in 1960. He then attended Northern Michigan University. In 1973, he bought Sunnyside Tavern in Agate and owned and operated it for the next 49 years. Ed was also a substitute teacher at the Ewen-Trout Creek School District, worked as a logger, and at JW Toumey Nursery for several seasons.

On Jan. 15, 1977, he married Sandra Lannet in Paynesville.

Ed enjoyed fishing, bowling, golf, shooting pool, crossword puzzles, TruMoo chocolate milk and an occasional trip to the casino. He was known for his dry humor; some thought he was funny, some not.

Ed loved animals. He always fed the birds and any other critters that showed up on the deck. He had a good heart and kind soul. He loved the Detroit Lions, Tigers and Red Wings.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Nathan (Megan) of Trout Creek, and Ross (Kortnie) of Mankato, Minnesota; four grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Mason, Addisyn, Myra and Aidan; one brother, Richard (Cindy) Avedisian; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and numerous uncles and aunts, including three very special aunts, Mayme, Martha and Vienna.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 24 at 11 a.m. at the Cane Funeral Home in Bruce Crossing with Pastor Ted Trudgeon officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at 10 a.m. Lunch will be served at Twilly's Bar and Grill in Bruce Crossing following the service.
